What is the School of Holiness?

School of Holiness

Est. Cavan, Ireland 2012

The School of Holiness is a human and spiritual development program for college students (ages 18-29). It began in Cavan, Ireland in June 2012, and increased steadily in size and content each year. SOH gives young adults the opportunity to take a few weeks out of their regular lives to reflect on themselves, their relationships with others, and their relationships with God.

After a one-year break due to relocation, we were delighted to resume School of Holiness this past summer, for a two-week period from July 8th – 21st. The school was hosted in The Emmaus Center in Dublin and was taught as before by the Direction for Our Times faculty.

This year the School of Holiness featured The Backpack Program as the primary curriculum resource. The Backpack teaches human wellbeing from psychological, social, and spiritual angles, all within the framework of the Roman Catholic faith. In an interactive learning environment students are taught how to have healthy relationships with God, with other people, and with themselves. Neuroscience and Scriptural teaching are combined to create a dynamic and contemporary curriculum in which students are encouraged to see themselves positively, as spiritual beings on a journey in the world.

Christian fellowship is a key component of the School of Holiness. Students come from many different corners of the world and socialising is a natural and integral part of the program. Mass and adoration are woven into the daily routine. We schedule field trips and plenty of free time to ensure that students can take in as much of Ireland’s beautiful culture and landscape as possible.

The School of Holiness is a relaxed, playful, and safe environment in which young people can learn about themselves and about their spirituality.
